Life is often confined to the box. Dare one to think outside of it. Dare one to break the rules enforced - like do not touch the art. Throwing the rules out the window, Cano not only challenges their audience to create with them but touch the art and interact with it physically. Part of their Drawing Reinvented series, “Underneath” is an interactive installation embracing those of us who happily don’t fit in a box. Of what appears to be plain black boxes piled on top of one another, is actually a range of boxes waiting to show their true colors. Participants are encouraged to scratch off the black layers of the boxes to reveal a range of color gradients and create their own art within the artist’s installation.
